Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery
Complete your window fashions with exclusive designs and styles and make a visual statement with Hunter Douglas Design Studio™. Hunter Douglas Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery perfectly complement your Hunter Douglas window treatments. Stationary side panels frame your windows, while drapery gives your windows an extra layer of light control and privacy. Mix and match Design Studio™ side panels, drapes, and shades for a look that’s completely your own.
Design Studio™ fabrics feature designs from top fabric experts like Rebecca Atwood, Marcie Bronkar, and Seema Krish. Designs range from stripes to nature patterns and classic embroidery to Japanese-inspired dye work: all meant to accentuate your home’s style.
Rebecca Atwood is an NYC-based fabric designer who developed easy-to-style designs to mix and match with your existing window treatments and other home décor. Her designs evoke a sense of calm and contentment with soft watercolor stripes, small trees, and dots. No design is perfectly symmetrical, reflecting the uniqueness of every moment in daily life. Her featured designs include the “Tree of Life”, reminiscent of a Portuguese fruit tree; “Garden Stripe”, inspired by the asymmetry of plant stems; and “Floral Stamp”, a gentle ditsy petal print.
Marcie Bronkar uses antiques as the inspiration of her designs. Bronkar brings history and the latest styles together for versatile designs that can be layered over all Hunter Douglas window treatments, from Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ plantation shutters to Vignette® Modern Roman Shades. Her featured designs include “Laurel”, a pattern inspired by Mexican pottery; “Grand Fleur”, a work of embroidery inspired by 17th century Venetian garments, and “August”, inspired by a patterned silk English foulard.
Seema Krish is a San Francisco artist that was inspired by the world around her. Bring the outside world in with designs drawn from the forest, the city, and the ocean. Krish experiments with both playful lines and composed patterns, perfect for any home not looking to compromise on sophistication and character. Her featured designs include “Reflections”, a watercolor block design similar to the reflections of lights in a tall San Francisco building; “Floret”, a four-petal design created using shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique; and “Tangle”, an embroidery piece that showcases the movement of young growing vines.

Choosing Your Drapery
Consider which fabrics are right for your drapery: smooth, heavy velvet might show signs of wear faster than textured, light linen, but linen is more easily wrinkled. Heavier fabrics make for luxurious drapes, while lighter, airier fabrics make good curtain fabric. Family homes may want to investigate performance fabrics that are able to withstand the daily adventures – and accidents – of their children and pets.
All Hunter Douglas fabrics except sheers are fully lined with either a light-filtering or room-darkening liner, and to make them even better, Design Studio™ fabric is stain-resistant and protects against UV light. More Design Studio™ fabric are available by the yard for custom home décor. Hunter Douglas also now offers square and oblong accent pillows to complement your Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery.
Design Studio™ Side Panels come in two-finger pinch pleat, two-finger pinch pleat and grommet styles, and Design Studio™ Drapery comes in two-finger pinch pleat, two-finger European pinch pleat and ripplefold styles. All Design Studio™ products are carefully sewn with excellent craftmanship, featuring handcrafted pleats, double-turned side hems, and pillow-cased turned hems stitched with meticulous attention. Side panels and drapery bring fullness to your windows – up to a standard 2x fullness for ripplefold drapery and 2.5x fullness for all other styles – and add dimension to otherwise flat walls. Complete the look by hanging your drapery with custom hardware like subtle matte or classy brass rods.
Design Studio™ Side Panels and Drapery give you extra light control, privacy, and even convenience. Never forget to open your drapes and curtains before you leave the house, and never worry if you do – Design Studio™ Drapery can be motorized with PowerView® Automation to open and close at your command. Use the proprietary Pebble® Remote, your smart phone or smart device, and even your smart home system to create a custom ambience in your rooms at any time and from anywhere.
