Fabrics

Design Studio™ fabrics feature designs from top fabric experts like Rebecca Atwood, Marcie Bronkar, and Seema Krish. Designs range from stripes to nature patterns and classic embroidery to Japanese-inspired dye work: all meant to accentuate your home’s style.

Rebecca Atwood

Rebecca Atwood is an NYC-based fabric designer who developed easy-to-style designs to mix and match with your existing window treatments and other home décor. Her designs evoke a sense of calm and contentment with soft watercolor stripes, small trees, and dots. No design is perfectly symmetrical, reflecting the uniqueness of every moment in daily life. Her featured designs include the “Tree of Life”, reminiscent of a Portuguese fruit tree; “Garden Stripe”, inspired by the asymmetry of plant stems; and “Floral Stamp”, a gentle ditsy petal print.

Marcie Bronkar

Marcie Bronkar uses antiques as the inspiration of her designs. Bronkar brings history and the latest styles together for versatile designs that can be layered over all Hunter Douglas window treatments, from Palm Beach™ Polysatin™ plantation shutters to Vignette® Modern Roman Shades. Her featured designs include “Laurel”, a pattern inspired by Mexican pottery; “Grand Fleur”, a work of embroidery inspired by 17th century Venetian garments, and “August”, inspired by a patterned silk English foulard.

Seema Krish

Seema Krish is a San Francisco artist that was inspired by the world around her. Bring the outside world in with designs drawn from the forest, the city, and the ocean. Krish experiments with both playful lines and composed patterns, perfect for any home not looking to compromise on sophistication and character. Her featured designs include “Reflections”, a watercolor block design similar to the reflections of lights in a tall San Francisco building; “Floret”, a four-petal design created using shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique; and “Tangle”, an embroidery piece that showcases the movement of young growing vines.

    Choosing Your Drapery

Consider which fabrics are right for your drapery: smooth, heavy velvet might show signs of wear faster than textured, light linen, but linen is more easily wrinkled. Heavier fabrics make for luxurious drapes, while lighter, airier fabrics make good curtain fabric.  Family homes may want to investigate performance fabrics that are able to withstand the daily adventures – and accidents – of their children and pets.
